An Analysis of Urdu Nominal Phrases based on the Theory of X-bar
Abstract
Syntax and Morphology determine the rules that govern the structure of any language. Sentences, phrases, and words are the hierarchies of language syntactic structures. This paper has discussed one of these constructions which is the phrase. It takes the Urdu nominal phrase for the analysis under the eye X bar theory of phrase by Chomsky (1970). The research has been carried out qualitatively with a descriptive-analytical approach. The theoretical framework for the study is “The X-bar schema and X-bar theory of phrase”, which aims to construct and govern the phrases of all-natural languages for computational grammar.
